Ayers
Rock - Uluru Resort Accommodation
Uluru (Ayers Rock)
is an Australian icon and a
sacred place for the Aboriginal
population. The colours of the
Australian Outback are a sensation
with the reds, ochres and oranges of the outback's fiery sun
dominating the ancient landscape.
Uluru,
commonly known as Ayers Rock
emerges imposingly from the desert plain in the
real outback in the centre of Australia.
The famous sandstone monolith stands approx
350metres high and, like an iceberg, has most of its huge
bulk below the surface.
Whilst
you are in the region of Uluru you must
take part in the unique dining experience
of the Sounds
of Silence dinner.
Enjoy pre dinner drinks as you see
the sun set on Ayers Rock and The Ulgas
and then dine in style under the stars
of the Southern Cross. You must make
a reservation early as this experience
books out very quickly!
Ayers
Rock is located approx 450 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs.
Visitors
can access Ayers Rock via Alice Springs
or by flying in direct to the airport at
Uluru.
Whilst
at Uluru visitors should take the 40 kilometre
trip to the west to see Kata Tjuta, also known as The Olgas. This massive pile of rock domes dates back 500 million years.
Both Uluru and Kata Tjuta have great cultural significance for the Anangu traditional landowners.
After visiting this area you will feel inspired by
the sheer size and unique nature of the
region.
Kings Canyon also lies 300 kilometres to the north-east of Uluru and
is also a unique experience as it has it's
own internal water lagoon for swimming,
300-metre-high sandstone walls, walking trails, palm-filled crevices -
all this in the centre of Australia, the
dryest continent.
